Grades 4 - 6 All sessions meet Mondays through Thursdays of two consecutive weeks: 12:30 - 2:00 Remember: Grade levels indicated are only a general guideline. Grades 4-6 September 18-28 Banishing Boring Words! In this workshop the students are fully immersed in optimal Word Choice with dazzling descriptions and super sentence construction through word games and mini-writing projects. Grade 4 October 2- 12 Sprouts! The students will be introduced to the 6-Trait Writing Process which easily augments any writing program. This workshop provides all the needed elements to help budding writers blossom. The students will be assisted in selecting writing topics of interest and moving through the writing process. Grades 4-6 ***CANCELED DUE TO PERSONAL FAMILY NEEDS*** November 6-16 Narrative Writing Through guided exploration of Ideas, students in the workshop will construct a story. The writers will determine whether to go with Creative Writing or an actual story accounting of true events. Coaching is provided throughout the writing process. Grades 5-6 ***CANCELED DUE TO PERSONAL FAMILY NEEDS*** December 4-14 Revisions/Editing with a Writing Coach Students are invited to bring previously written pieces to the workshop to revisit them with me in a "Writing Conference" format for feedback. Grades 4-6 February 5-15 Expository Writing Through guided exploration of Ideas, students will select a topic for research and composition. We will work together on the whole process from note taking to final copy.
